Could Scotland have started a green revolution? This new promo for QU Consortium and ARK Foundation suggests so, citing the 1887 invention of the world’s first wind turbine in Aberdeenshire as evidence that ‘Scotland has and always will be instrumental in developing world leading technology’.
Of course, Scotland did what the rest of the world did, and the resulting industrial revolution saw 50% of the world’s oil being used in 100 years and the ever-present challenge of climate change.
So whilst the opportunity to go green was passed on in 1887, QU and ARK claim that now is the time for change. Will Scotland become the global green leader it once could have been?
