Innovation in the Pizza Box Industry

Innovation is not dead in the pizza box industry.

As explored in a previous post, John Harvey’s round pizza box failed to take off commercially, mainly because it was too radical a departure from the traditional pizza box. With this in mind, Environmentally Conscious Organization Inc. have created the Greenbox, a square pizza box made from 100% recycled material that also serves as 4 plates and a storage container.

Although their claim of ‘saving the environment one pizza box at a time’ is ridiculous – buying pizza will not save the environment, whatever box it’s delivered in – their product is genuinely innovative whilst also being traditional. Manufactured using the same methods as a traditional pizza box, and at no extra cost, they have totally bypassed the issues that resulted in the commercial failure of the round pizza box.

Now all that’s needed is mass adoption by the pizza delivery industry, which in America alone sells 3.5 billion take away pizzas a year.
